February 4, 1998, 13 years ago when the movie Titanic was shown here in the Philippines. the movie who written, co-produced, co-edited and directed by the Oscar winner director James Cameron soared a phenomenal US$1.8 Billion ticket sales worldwide and was set as the world's highest grossing movie of all time. In the Philippines the movie banked a whooping $4.8 Million which is equivalent to P194 Million at that time.
The movie is an epic romance and disaster film about a boy and girl from different social backgrounds meeting during the ill-fated maiden voyage of RMS Titanic. RMS Titanic is the name of the largest passenger steamship in the world it owned by White Star Line. On April 14, 1912. Titanic struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City and sank on April 15, 1912. The director of the film James Cameron get his inspiration to the film to his fascination to shipwrecks and his idea to show his viewers the emotional message of the tragedy that he would like to convey through the film. The film indeed was very successful and bagged several awards and nominations and needless to say the Oscar wherein the movie gets 11 awards and that include the Best Picture and Best Director for Cameron.
The movies become the highest-grossing film of all time until it was surpassed by the movie Avatar in 2010 who ironically directed by the same director James Cameron. Now, 13 years after when the movie was shown and when the whole world fall in love with the character of Rose and Jack which I think one of the most popular known characters in a film in world who portrayed and launched the career of now one of the most sought after and best actors and actress of present century in Hollywood Kate Winslet and Leonardo De Caprio. The movie is said to be re-released in the year 2012 in 3D coinciding with the the ship Titanic's centennial year since it's first and last voyage. According Paramount Pictures and it's director James Cameron when they announced that the mega blockbuster movie will be converted and remastered into 3-D or three dimensional film for theatrical re-release on April 6, 2012 which will marked the 100th anniversary of Titanic's history sailing which happened on April 10th 1912.
According to Cameron, "There's a whole generation that's never seen ‘TITANIC’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘TITANIC’ as you've never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike."
The movie stared by Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson, Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, Billy Zane as Caledon Nathan "Cal" Hockley, Gloria Stuart as Rose Dawson Calvert and directed by James Cameron among others and distributed by Paramount Picture.

Graduation
It's graduation day for some colleges all over the metro, some they held last March and some was back in April or this month of May, this is something that making you feel good inside, its make you feel proud that after a long years of studying, after those gruesome 4 years and for some 5 years of studying in college you finally arrive to the finish line in one of the journey you took when you graduated in High School, you finally wear that dark color Toga that will symbolize your accomplishment as a student, and that is to finish your college up to very last moment. Also you held in your arm that piece of paper that stated and your very own name that affirmed your success and that indeed finished that long, exhausting. demanding and rigorous race. Finally you can make your parents honored and proud at the same time relieve that you finally able to finish that they have work hard for for the last four years of your college life. The Diploma will serve not just a recognition and affirmation to you but also it is consolation for you and your parents for working so hard. it will serve as trophy for us and to our parents success. Finishing college is truly a milestone in once life, it is something that we can be proud that while we are marching through music of graduation hymn as if we are telling to the world our great happiness that after all those days of hard works, sacrifices, patients we are able to finish the battle to succeed.
These are the things I missed, this are the thing I wasn't able to accomplish and making my mom feel that moment of triumph. That feeling her son calling his name on stage and handling him his diploma, that feeling of relief, of happiness, of being proud of the first accomplishment her son had and her accomplishment for being a responsible parent, that despite all the odds, the problem that come her way, despite all the hard works she did for making both ends meet she was able to let her son finish his college. It was really indeed frustrating and rather disappointing as I was the only one my mom can lean to, she trusted me that I may finish my college and the thought that I can help her out in supporting the family which I can say that I am able to do today, though it could be a little bit more different when I was able to finish my study and it was just one of the regrets I have and one of my biggest failure in life. Back in college It seems that life is so easy, life is so plain though it was really complicated. Back in college I always plan my life and that kind of attitude that even today I still do practiced though my mind is open to the possibility that not everything that you plan will go on the same way you want it to be, I learned that in life we can definitely make plans, make draft of what we should do, or what would be are short term or long term goals but it still gonna be in the hand of our almighty God to determined if it will work or not the way we wanted it.

End of the World
I have ran into an article which I happened to read about the news which was spreading in the US about the end of the world. Hard to believe right? but it was what the president of the so called Family Radio a non-commercial 24 hour listener supporter, Christian radio broadcasting network in the United States that is based in Oakland, California, Harold Camping a Christian preacher said that the Rapture or the gathering of all good people on earth to meet Christ will start in May 21, 2011 and the end of the world will take place five months later which will be on October 21, 2011. This prediction rose a lot of controversy in the Christian world. other people would state a Bible verse in the Book of Mathew which says something about the time and date of when the World end. It's stated that; "No one knows about that day or hour (pertaining to the end of the world), not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
In my personal opinion, The end of the world has been a long, sensitive and complicated topics to discuss with because many who think otherwise will definitely contradict and many great people throughout the pass century that pass claim a lot of predictions of the end of the world and the time has come for repentance and do good things in order to be save because whether we like it or not the world that we know, the people that we have meet along our dreams will no longer be the same again. but this when you think of it in a different perspective this people who claim all this end of the world are just a mere people only and not God! this are the people who happen to have knowledge that other men hasn't but it doesn't mean to say that they have the whole truth about the time and date the existence of me will all be all gone and the world will just end because ONLY THE FATHER WILL KNOW IN HIS PERFECT TIME.
Personally, I believe that end of the world could happen any moments if our GOOD GOD decided so, even today while I am writing this blog can be the time that this world end because our GOOD GOD has the power to do and undo, pursue or delay whatever impending things to happen but it's gonna be in his own hand not in the vast knowledge of men, the problem of human is that we always trying I suppose and in my humble opinion attaining the knowledge and wisdom of God but we wont be able to do so, because the more we try, the more we become evil. Repentance should always happen everyday not because the end is coming and it should be our practiced everyday because everyday can be the end of the world, everyday ca be our last time on earth, as much as every given day is God's gift to mankind that we live another day, that we witness the beautiful sunrise that promises us of beautiful tomorrow and that I guess what we should thank for and not to waste our time and thoughts of thinking when will be the end of the world. We should remember that God has the power to give and the power to end if he chooses to end the world today it will happen today and the world will just end at the wink of God's eye. For now lets just live our life and leave our dream because in this way we can express our gratitude to God for giving us another chance of a new life. If on May 21, 2011 and five months after that the world that we know still stand here showing its beautiful sunrise then I guess a MAN made another shameful mistake to GOD that I guess need repentance.
Note: Harold Camping is also predicted the world end back in 1994 when he claimed that there was a very high likelihood that the world would end in September, 1994, although he did acknowledge in the book "the possibility does exist that I could be wrong.

A woman that is there always in our side and witness and support us to all our first's, To the time we said our first word, To the time we first we learned to write and read, To the time that we wear our first uniform, To the time when a boy undergo his write of passage and for a girl when she first had her sign of being a woman. To the time we first fell in love, to the time that we had our first broken heart, To the time that we graduated in preschool, high school and college and witness her sweet proud smile. To the time that we had our first job, To the time we feel
defeated, to the time we had our success. She was indeed a woman that never leave our side no matter what the circumstances are, the woman who steadfastly stand for us, A woman that nurtures and care us, a woman that loves unconditionally not for whatever you can repay her when you grow up. Royal Last Name
Last April 29, 2011 we all witness all over again another Royal wedding which we have last witness over 30 years ago through the wedding of Lady Diana Frances Spencer or popularly known as Lady Diana or Princess Diana of Wales when she married Prince Charles of Wales on July 29, 1981 and after 30 years the eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William turned to say his I do to a lucky girl name Kate,
Prince William born as William Arthur Philip Louis on June 21, 1982 he was the elder son of the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles and of the late lady Diana, Princess of Wales and the third eldest grand child of the queen of England Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Price William will be the second in line of succession behind or next to his father Prince Charles of Wales. Moreover, Kate Middleton was born as Catherine "Kate" Middleton on January 9, 1982.Kate was commoner before she marry Prince William. Kate grew up in Chapel Row at the
Bucklebury a village in England and studied at University of St Andrew where she meet William and as they all they say the "rest is history" which fortunately with Kate, ended up in fairytale like wedding which turned out to be the most watched wedding in the world and witness their exchanging of vows and I do's before the eyes of million and million of peoples all over the world to be united and be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Now that Prince William and Kate is already married, I been wondering of what would be Prince William's last name?, In our Philippines costume and I guess every culture in the world that when a woman or bride get married her name will become her middle name and she will adopt the last name of her groom or husband. If that is the case in the Royal Family? then what would be the last name of the Duchess of Cambridge? or the Royal Family in general? Do they even have a last name? because we normally know and heard that these people being called as Elizabeth II, Prince Harry of Wales or Princes William of Wales or Prince Charles of Wales among others but we never heard them being address to their last name at all.
According to some article being published to the official website of the British Monarchy that the members of the Royal Family can be known both by the name of the Royal House, and by a surname, which are not always the same or oftentimes they dont used a last name at all. Long before 1917 the member of the British Royal Family had no last name or surname and they are just being address only the name of the house or dynasty to which they are belong. Traditionally in United Kingdom the Kings and Princes is know by the names of the countries over which they and their families ruled and the only times that the name of the current dynasty was change when the line of succession was taken by rival faction within the family. But in 1917 there was a radical change, when King George V the eldest son of King Edward VII who is the eldest son of Queen Victoria. adopted the last name "Windsor" after it's Castle of the same name from the original surname of "Saxe-Coburg-Gotha" which is the family name of King Edward VII father's Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Kings George grandfather. King George declared on July 17, 1917 that all descendants in the male line of Queen Victoria will be subjects to these realm, other than female descendants who marry or who have married, shall bear the name Windsor, and so the surname become not only the name of their house or dynasty but also as the surname of his family. These was all happened due to the anti-German feeling at that time which is First World War.
The Windsor surname was confirmed by Queen Elizabeth II after her ascension in 1952, However Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II decided that they would also like their own direct descendants to be distinguished from the rest of the Royal Family without changing the name of the Royal House Windsor which is the surname used by all the male and unmarried female descendants of George V that is why as it was declared in the Privy counsel that all direct descendants of Queen Elizabeth would carry the surname Mounbatten-Windsor except those female descendants who marry or those who are using the style "Your Royal Highness". On 1947 when Prince Philip became a naturalize he assume the name Philip Mounthbatten and the declaration will affect to all the Queens children on occasion that they will be needing a surname they will used the Mountbatten-Windsor. The last name Mountbatten-Windsor first appeared on an official document on November 14, 1973, in the marriage register at Westminster Abbey for the marriage of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.
As of this moment the last name Mountbatten-Windsor is still the official Royal Family last name unless the current Prince of wales, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge chooses to change it when the time comes he was the king already to distinguished his and her wife the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton descendants or he will continuously used the surname Mountbatten-Windsor. At this moment what we can only say is that only time can tell and only God knows.

Blessed Pope John Paul II
Today May 1, 2011 is the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II. born KarolJozef Wojtyla. He was born on May 18, 1920 and died on April 2, 2005. He was reigned as the Pope of the catholic church and sovereign of the The Holy See for 27 years which start on October 16, 1978 until in his death on April 2, 2005. He died at 84 and for the record he was the second-longest documented pontificate, the first one is Pius IX who reign for 31 years and 7 months (1846 - 1878). Karol was ordained to the priesthood on All Sains Day, November 1, 1946 by archbishop Cardinal Sapieha.of Krakow, which is the second largest and the oldest cities in Poland In 1948 after he study theology in Rome wherein he earned his licentiate and doctorate in sacred theology. he went back to Poland and was assigned in the village of Niegowić. On July 4 of 1958 and at the age of 38 he was appointed by the late Pope Pius XII to the position of Auxiliary bishop of Krakow, he was consider as the youngest to ever became a bishop in Poland and on 1978, Karol Józef Wojtyła a compromise candidate won the election of Papacy for eighth ballot on the second day which according to the Italian press, 99 votes from the 111 participating electors. He chooses the name John Paul II in honor of his immediate predecessor Pope John Paul I, who at 65 was reign pope and was considered young by papal standards,However John Paul I died after only 33 days as Pope. At 58 Karol Józef Wojtyła known as John Paul II accepted his election with these words: ‘With obedience in faith to Christ, my Lord, and with trust in the Mother of Christ and the Church, in spite of great difficulties, I accept. Pope John Paul II become the 264th Pope according to the chronological list of popes and the first non-Italian Pope in 455 years.
Today after 6 years and 28 days from death Pope John Paul II will be beatified and will be called "Blessed Pope John Paul II".
Beatification is a recognition accorded by the Catholic Church of the dead person's entrance into Heaven and capacity to intercede on behalf of individuals who pray in his or her name or what we called the intercession of saints. It is the third steps in the canonization which is an act by which Christianity declare a deceased person to be a Saint, upon which declaration the person is included in the canon or list of recognize saints. A person that was beatified is given the tile "Blessed"
The process normally start on the first stage which is the collection of documents and facts to be verify in order to check the sanctity of the individual, It was called the "Diocesan Phase" and these documents are being send to Vatican Congregation for the causes of Saints. The Second stage begins at the Vatican, Historian, and Theologians that will be working together to reconstruct the person biography exactly, including their spirituality and sign of heroism. After studying all the documents, a process that can take years and years and that is one must present a Miracle. In the case of the Canonization, the miracle must have occurred after the person has been beatified. if there were story and evidence of the allege miracle, this will be sent to medical committee that will consist of 60 experts in various field of study and specialization of medicine and these group of people will then give a scientific explanation in the light of modern medicine. Once the miracle has been be proved, theologians must check that the miracle has been achieved through the aid of the candidate to the altars and no other Saints.
Truly, beatification is a very long and complicated matter to discuss both to the experts and to us, as there will be a lot of things that we have to talk and consider, but to put it simply, Beatification process is one person to be one step closer to Canonization, to which the saint hood of one person begin and the Catholic Church's highest honor . Many other people nowadays made harsh comments which I happened to read in some websites. This people are somehow express their dislike about the beatification of the late Pope, They have a lot of arguments, an arguments that can make or break the name of our beloved Pope and I think it was unfair as the dead can no longer prove and defend himself though the late Pope has nothing to prove about his Holiness, and that is what many of his faithful think, One can argue that a person or group of people cannot declare any person that is dead a Saint because they are both a human, this and all other long list of of comments who stand in their arguments.
As for me, Beatification of Pope john Paul II is long process for and this is just his first step to arrive at the altar and be venerated in the catholic church as Saint but he was not yet declare as a Saint, To be Saint there will be a long process that has to be done and to be canonize there will be a second miracle needed. In this proceeding as for others to understand that the beloved Pope is still and wont be declare as a saint but a candidate to be one of the Saints and there will be no need for harsh comments of all sorts, Our beloved pope is no longer with us and what only left to us is his life story, his achievement as a pope and in service to Catholics church all over the world, his undeniable love and servitude to the church, to the catholic people and to God. that I think if not more, would suffice to be considered blessed all for the sake of his legacy to the Catholic Church and to our Catholic faith.
The Blessed Pope John Paul II, visited the Philippines twice already, one in February 1981 and the second was on January of 1995. Here are some of the photos during his visit to us
