Christian Bale performance in this boxing film generate Oscar buzz as he dramatically transformed himself from Batman buff into a rail thin for his role a drug addict and former boxer but after all said and done he still take home the trophy of his remarkable performance and I guess Christian Bale think right now that it's all worth it.

Asianovela

We all know that we love to watched T.V and more often whenever we spend our waking hours at home and/or simply just relaxing we see our self in front our t.v seating comfortably to our coaches watching our favorite t.v programs. Nowadays we do have the option to choose variety programs that we can watched on cable or on regular channels and among those choices are Asianovela or to be specific the Korean Drama. Korean Drama has been popularly spread throughout Asia and have contributed to the general phenomenon of the so called "Korean wave" also know as "Hallyu" which can be defined as the significant increase of  popularity of South Korean culture around the world in terms of fashion, music, and of course Drama.  Some of the internationally popular  Korean dramas are the likes of Winter Sonata, Dae Jang Geum, Full House, Stairway to Heaven, My Girl, Love Story in Harvard, Autumn in my Heart, baker King Kim Tak Gu, and Your Beautiful among others.

Its been quit sometimes since I embarked on the journey of exploring and following and watching Korean Dramas also known as the k drama and I first had my chance to watch my fist experience of Asianovela fever via the Taiwanese drama series Meteor Garden back 2003 and since then I been watching  Asianovela drama but what captured me most is the Korean drama series, I guess I fall in love how they do there drama series, the theme, the storyline, the artist, all these elements are rolled into one and create a beautiful and memorable k drama that enjoyed.

Here are my all time favorite Asianovela / Korean Drama that I watched and their brief synopsis.

Meteor Garden -  Though this is not a Korean drama but I feel that this deserve to be included on the list as it has a very good reason why. In the midst of all Mexican telenovela themed that was dubbed and shows in the Philippines. Meteor Garden who become phenomenal hit in back in 2003 which was shown in ABS-CBN Channel 2 really change the late afternoon t.v habit of almost all of the Filipino as it become a common household names and was subject to any conversation. Meteor Garden really set the trend of having a Korean dubbed series shows in the Philippines mainstream.  The series was starred by Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu. The series is based on Japanese manga series entitled "Hana Yori Dango" who wrote by Yoko Kamito.

The story  is revolver on a poor teenage girl named Shan Cai (Barbie Hsu ) whose  parents wants to her to study to university for the rich so she can meet a rich guy who will fall in love with her and marry her and so they can get out of their poor life but the University is dominated Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan), Hua Ze Lei (Vic Zhou), Mei Zhou (Vaness Wu), and Xi men (Ken Chu) are the four rich and handsome but arrogant students which was known as "F4". They are all the heirs to four influential families in Taiwan. They terrorizing the schools by handling out red card to those students that simply don't like, which allow the bullies to bully the victim until all they decided to leave the schools. Until they meet San Cai who stand up against the four which lead her to receive her red card that allows her to a victim of all the bullies in schools but because of her persistent to fight back she gradually gains F4's respect and Dao Ming Si the leader of the group heart.

Lovers in Paris who starred by Park Shin Yang, Kim Jung- Eun and very handsome and now just recently joined the military Lee Dong-Geon. This Korean novela is another phenomenal success here in the Philippines and also in Korea. I remember that word "aja" means "fight" an expression in Korea which the equivalent of "kaya ko to!" in Tagalog is one of the expression derive in this drama which was the expression by many Pinoy. I so love this romantic comedy combined with a tear jerking episodes. The drama was set in the most romantic and beautiful city of Paris. Tae-young (Kim Jeong-eun), who used to help her father manage a small, run-down theater in the outskirts of Seoul, decides to leave for Paris to study after her father passes away. Although Tae-young makes it to Paris, she finds that she cannot afford to even pay her rent unless she works part-time. One day, she gets a job as a cleaning lady at a beautiful mansion-style apartment. Ki-ju (Park Shin-yang) was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. As the son of a multi-millionaire, Ki-ju is a bright and sophisticated gentleman with a good sense of humor. Ki-ju has only one fear in life: love. In the past, he went through a loveless marriage arranged by his parents that ultimately led to a divorce. Despite these factors, Ki-ju soon finds himself helplessly falling for the unsophisticated, yet genuine charm of Tae-young.

Only You - Starred by Han Chae Young, Jo Hyun Jae, Hoong Soo Hyun, and Lee Chung Hee.  This is one of the most beautiful Korean drama I watched and helplessly loved it. though the theme of the drama is quite common but the fact that they combine the drama of a romantic comedy and food role into one series in a more exciting, spicier and delicious way is genius.  I remember that even my mother was hook in this series and together we wait for the time of its airing which was coincidentally shown in ABS-CBN along with first two above. just like Lovers in Paris Only You was put on the prime time block or the night programming. The story is about the girl
named Eun Jae (Han Chae Young) who was a stubborn and hard headed girl who had a passion for cooking. She did not have any interest in going to college and with the help of her high school friend, Jung Hyun Sung (Lee Chun Hee)she ran away to Italy to enroll in a cooking school. Jung Hyun Sung who loved her dearly went along with her. Han Yi-Joon (Jo Hyun Jae) came from a wealthy family. He travelled to Italy looking for his mother and there he ran into Eun Jae, who had also been seeking the same person to learn the secrets to making great pasta. She comforted Yi-Joon, who was distraught over his mother’s remarrying, and they ended up making love. Yi Joon left Eun Jae the next morning over some misunderstanding. Eun Jae became pregnant and had no choice but to give up her dream and to return to Korea. Six (6) years later, Eun Jae was working in low paying restaurant jobs, Yi-Joon whose taking over the operations of his family’s business, and Hyun Sung was working as a chef for one of the restarurants owned by Yi-Joon and managed by Ji Soo Yeon (Hong Soo Hyun). Hyun Sung was good with Eun Jae’s son and he was helping out Eun Jae’s whole family financially as they had fallen on hard times. Yi-Joon found out that he still had feelings for Eun Jae as they ran into each other when he was looking for a new chef for his restaurant. The dramatic tension unfolds as the four main characters worked out their feelings for each other.

Your Beautiful - This is one of the cuties romantic comedy / drama koreanovela I watched. The story is about the top boy bands in all of Asia called A.N.JELL,  The band consists of three cute and talented young men: Hwang Tae Gyeong, an arrogant music genius; Jeremy, a classy guy with a sunny disposition, and Gang Sinu, a seemingly cold and reserved prince. One day A.N. JELL decides to add a new member to the group, Go Minam. Go Minam ends up not being able to join the band because of botched plastic surgery and his sister Go Minyeo joins the band disguised as her brother. The two siblings are convinced that joining the band is the only way to find their long-lost mother, but of course, things don’t turn out exactly as they planned. When Minyeo joins the band chaos ensues, but later she finds herself and discovers true love.

Boys over Flower -  This is the remake of my first entry Meteor Garden which is a Taiwanese drama base on the Japanese mangga "Hana Yori Dango". The series was premiered on January 5, 2009 on KBS2TV a Korean channel. The series has 25 episode and ended on March 31, 2009 The series will be the was the fifth adaptation of the mangga  following the very successful Meteor Garden. The series was starred by strikingly handsome Lee Ming Ho (Gu Jun Pyo) , Koo Hye Sun (Geum Jan Di),  Kim Hyung Joong (Yoon Ji Hoo), Kim Bum (So Yi Jeong), and Kim Joon (Song Won Bin). The four guy who played the F4 are all equally handsome and that is one of reason why this series was being followed by many in Korea and as well in the Philippines as it was shown here as well via ABS-CBN . The series revolves around a girl named, Geum Jan-di. She receives a scholarship to enter a prestigious high school, Shinwa High, after rescuing one of the students from a suicide attempt while on a laundry delivery. Once there, she sees that a group of rich and handsome boys called "F4" (short for "Flower 4") are the most popular of the students, and the whole school seems to worship them. However, the F4 bullies everyone around, and whoever does not do as they wish will receive a "red card" and are punished by the F4. Jan-di, at first, hates all of them and stands up for her fellow classmates and takes the ridicule in. Eventually, she begins to have feelings for one of them, Ji-hoo, but she also discovers that the leader of the group, Jun-pyo, is falling for her as well. This is about a love triangle among Jun Pyo, Jan-di and Ji-Hoo, and how it gets solved.

Bread, Love and Dream - The series has more than 1 charters it was also know has Baker King, Kim Tak Gu but I prefer the latter. The series concluded in Korea  last September 16, 2010 and was broadcast of by KBS media. This K drama was starred by the very handsome Yoon Si Yoon as Kim Tak Gu in his first lead role full length Korean drama. He was supported by Eugene who starred in some memorable k drama such us Save the last dance, Three dads with a mom and A wonderful life among others and some veteran artist in Korea's showbiz industry. The series is a family oriented series that tells story of young and determined baker to overcome many trials that comes his way and his to become the best baker in Korea. The story tell about love, envy, hatred, betrayal, friendships and family rolled into one dramatic series that even makes me cry. The dram is currently broadcast by the GMA channel 7 but prior to that I have watched through DVD and finished all its episodes.

Sandara kissesd Jun Pyo...!!!!!

Happy Sunday everyone....I was at the office having my rest day over time and while browsing the net one my friend shared a youtube video on her facebook account of our very own  Sadara Park whose currently a member of the hottest girl group in Korea 2NE1 partnered with the Boys over flower lead actor Lee Min-Ho in "Kiss My Cass Beer" commercial. I can say that she really bloomed and become a beautiful mature Korean woman whom I suppose all Korean people special the women at her age liked and all the Korean boys adore. She was indeed became more beautiful than she already is and she even become more fashionable contrary to the her image that she portray back when she was still here. Sandara really made it through the rain knowing all those controversy that bug her career and family.when she was still here in the Philippines. I guess it was true that good things happens to those people who patiently wait and Sandard is a living testimony of it. Looking at her now? I would say that certainly Sandara is bound to be the envy of all the girls in town and maybe all the girl all over the world for being partnered to one of the Korea's most handsome and eligible bachelor Lee Min Ho.

Sandar Park best known as Dara to the successful and hottest all female group in korea 2NE1. For awhile she became that all loved kikay and "krung krung" (crazy like) image back in Philippines when she joined the reality talent show Star Circle Quest in 2004 which  was shown in ABS-CBN network. She was able to survive that gruesome process of elimination, needless to say her being native Korean was one of the hardest for her as she displayed trouble to the daily exercises as she don't speak tagalog or the Filipino language and her ways of communication is through English but with all those troubles  she been through just to survive the contest, She indeed survive and eve made Philippines television history by garnering approximately 500,000 test votes , making her the first female to garner that much vite through SMS

support. In the final night she closed the text vote to a whopping total number of votes to 1, 800, 000 but came only second to its tough competitor  Hero Angeles who later became her screen partner.  Sandara became an instant household names and because of that popularity she appear to various Drama, movies, commercial spots, and even made an album which was a total hit  and even reach the double Platinum status in sales. Of course when you working at showbiz we cannot avoid controversies and and Sandara is no excemption. Sandard leave the Philippines with her mother and siblings and returned back to Korea where she was really from and started
new life and I guess Sandara is really destine for  being big thing. When she signed a contract to be part of her YG Family (record label and talent agency founded by Yang Hyun Suk). In 2009 YG Entertainment announced that they will having creating a all female group that will consist of four members. The group was initially called "21" but because there was an artist already with the same name they change that to "2ne1" and that were the group 2NE1 started and old saying goes the rest is history....As for my opinion Dara or Sandara really deserve this break as she was very a good person inside and out and I am happy that though she was part of the 2NE1 group she was singled out to be part of this beer commercial. In this commercial I like the idea and drama and love story behind it, In like that smokey eye that really even make her more matured and attractive but with an attitude Sandara is not just ordinary girl next door she was not the most sought after girl next door that will make p all the boys in Korean and the world fall in love to her. I will not wonder that one day she will be the lead star of our next favorite korean drama and movie. So to Sandara or Dara you will be forever be the Sandara that we knew only more fashionable and hotter and you make not forget the country that give you the first taste of fame and glory and the people who first love you regardless of who you are. Congratulation

Remembering EDSA

Almost  25 years from now  the whole world witness a million of people swarmed along the road of EDSA  or the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and  formerly known as Highway 54. The Filipino people exhibit their most powerful expression of their nationalism through the People Power Revolution also known as EDSA Revolution. People Power Revolution was a series of popular nonviolent revolution and prayerful mass streets demonstrators in the Philippines happened on February 25, 1986.  The revolution was a unified decision of each and every Filipino people regardless of statute.

The middle class, mother, father, nun, priest, the children and teenagers, the professionals like doctors, lawyers,  teachers a like express their oneness of their rebellion against the abusive authorities and that is one sole purpose,  to freed us to all injustice and suffering that dictatorship brought to our country under Marcos regime who implemented  of Marshal Law which could be the dark time of the Philippines history.

Marshal Law is an imposition of military rule by the military authorities when the civilian government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively. This same law can be abuse by the people in authorities and used it to their advantage to be in power for a long time, needless to say that was what happened to our beloved country over 25 years ago. Finally the Filipino decided to break free and be freed from this chain of suffering and misery that they have all experienced.
It was believe that a part from all the misery and sufferings of injustices that Filipino people had, The  assassination of the then late Senator Ninoy Aquino father of our current president Noynoy Aquino lit a fire of protest which our country and even the whole world had not seen before.  Ninoy is Marcos critics and having said that he was single out by the incumbent President Marcos and his allies as his greatest threat. Luis Beltran a journalist once wrote when Ninoy visited the kitchen where Kennedy was shot and while looking at the outline of body that is still marked on the floor, Ninoy told his friend "If I get shot on the head like Kennedy, I am not going to go down on my knees. If you get shot like that, you have a few seconds of life left. If that happens to me, I am going to fall straight down and spread my arms so people will know I never gave up even to the last second."And on August 21, 1983 Ninoy Aquino was shot and prior to his departure from taipe his last words is like this;  "You have to be ready with your hand camera because this action can become very fast. In a matter of 3 or 4 minutes it could be all over, and I may not be able to talk to you again after this. This same event pave the way to these historic events that forever change the course of our Philippines history and restoration of our beloved  Democracy which all of us enjoyed and that we are all celebrating now.

PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION is not just about Ninoy Aquino and her widow the late President Corazon Aquino who fought for the people, EDSA Revolution is all about the people who stand against the dictatorship, who faced  and manned the barricade the army holding high caliber of weapons and advancing tanks. EDSA is about all the people in all walks of life sharing camaraderie and fought hand and hand in most non violent way, This are the people who dare to oppose the authorities to save our democracy. This is all about the people who put their life in danger just to be free for all injustices. May this events made us remember the thousand of people who put their life at stake in order for us enjoy the freedom that we have now, those unsung hero who was at EDSA at that time, fighting for their life, fighting for our country's freedom, fighting for democracy.  EDSA is God's sign of miracle. A miracle to everyone as it showcase how prayer really works in time of danger, suffering, frustration, fear and hopelessness. EDSA will forever be a testimony of our strong NATIONALISM AND FAITH.

To God be the Glory!

My Valentine Dates!

Last February 14 Valentines day me and my friends back in VXI Philippines Inc. the company that I have previously worked with, meet up again for another get together. Looking back I still remember and was still clear to me the last time that we meet. That was back in December when  had our get  together and had an early Christmas celebration and at the same time to celebrate Sasi's (my coach in VXI which most of called her fondly) boyfriend Jonas's birthday at the Mall of Asia. After a long talk. It was a fun night with them, This meet up has been reschedule many times already as our schedule never meet up and after  several revisions of plan (to many thing to reconsider specially financial matter. hahahaha) we finally meet decided that it's about time.

From the left hand side Me and Patrick and from the right hand side sasi and her boy friend Jonas
It was absolutely a fun night for everyone specially for me as this will be the first time I got out again after that long few weeks of anxiety, frustration and stressful experiences I just had though I was in doubt that this one will push through at first because of some reasons I am glad that finally this one has gone through and I got out and chill out for awhile and have this celebrate this season of love not with my lover (which of course I don't have) but the closes of friends I have. call it God's perfect timing! We meet up at 9:00 PM at the North Park I was the first one to arrive. I stayed for awhile at the Starbucks at the Column building which I have funny memory  back  when I was still working at VXI. VXI then was still located at the RCBC tower which is just across street where the Column building was. (Column is by the way a condominium building where some establishments such Starbucks, Ministop and some restaurant renting its ground floor.
North Park at Convergys bldg Ayala Ave.Makati

The next to arrive is my friend Patrick wearing his  long sleeve checkered polo from top man and his skinny jeans. I notice though that this friend of mine does not look bad after all that he been through. Patrick just broke up with his boyfriend last month and it saddened us his friends because they are look perfect for each other and the guys became close to us as well. I guess some good things never last, sometimes just when you though that everything is fine and going well shit happens.

Patrick and Me
I don't know the real reason really and I really cant understand why all of sudden they broke up but one thing is clear that it was over to the two of them. Regardless of the recent events that make Patrick love life a roller coaster ride I am glad that though he was emotionally devastated inside he was strongly coping up.  I am glad that he was a singe and was ready to mingle attitude right nowand right now and eyeing someone else already. Hoping in the days to come he will be back on the ball game again of love ....love...love..
The love Birds: Sasi and Jonas

The last to arrive is my friend/coach sasi with her boyfriend Jonas. If I was to count all my blessings I guess sasi is just of the top of my blessing, I never thought that our friendship last and go out to the four wall of VXI. I am glad that during the time and even there times that I was down she was there. She was one of the person that influence of somehow appreciating life and  enjoying life in whatever way possible and I am so glad that I meet her, I suppose this are just one of the consolation I got from working with VXI meeting a true friend like Sasi. This girl been through a lot and been through a very complicated relationship before Jonas, though I think I notice that she was much happier then but she was trying to be happy and trying to work things out today in her present relationship. This meeting with her is also a bit sad because she will be leaving on the first week of March for Singapore  and I guess she will gonna stay their for a bit longer than she before (she previously work their and stayed with her brother in Singapore last year and just had a vacation in Manila)

Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu (Fillet)
Yeung Chow Fried Rice

Beef  Stir fry with cauliflower (kailan)
At the north park we ordered 3 menu the specialty of north park the Yeung Chow Fried Rice and partnered by the sweet and sour Lapu-lapu which I really enjoyed and the Beef stir fry with cauliflower. It was an amazing meal as we talk about anything and everything under the sun while we all together shared and eat this delicious food. I feel that I was not just full physically but I was emotionally full as well .

Starbuck at People Support bldg

Frafucci for the 3 of us but patrick to just choose to have a latte
After sharing those sumptuous meal together at North Park we transferred the People Support building just right across the street  from the Convergys building to have a coffee at the Starbucks located at thr ground floor of the people support building. We often do this back when we are still working at VXI, after shift we normally had a lunch or brunch together and have a coffee base frapuccino afterward. What I ordered is the a Caramel Cream Frap as I want to try something new, I normally order Strawberry and Cream before but I guess I get used to the taste so it didn't excite me anymore. I don't drink anymore any caffeinated base beverages in Starbucks and irony of it? I buy at Starbucks...hahahahahahah funny as it may seem but coffee base beverages is no longer appeal me and that is for a personal reason and choice. Sasi and Jonas ordered Mocha Frap and Patrick just had a coffee latte. We stayed at the Starbucks until the wee our of the night and just had a very funny and sometimes serious talk about anything and everything under the sun and moon, like work, relationships and future plans.  We decided to parts ways at pass 12:00 midnight and with us are all  beautiful memories and experiences that we just had. Hoping that after a the days, months and even years (hopefully not) that comes we will meet up again and filled our hearths again with a lot of stories that we just had. With that me saying I am looking forward for another round of beautiful experiences with this friends of mine and was much more exciting to share it with you here at my blog .  Happy post Valentine to all!

Dramatology

Filipino people are know for their amazing hospitality and the valued that we exhibit to our family, friends, relatives and even to other people but apart from all that we also known for our being so fanatic to a drama genre programming. Philippines drama is classified to different form and genre and more often we called them teleserye or teledrama   which basically rooted to 2 different word "tele" which means television as it was often shown on television and "serye" or series because it was a form of melodramatic serialize fiction about a person which we call the "bida" and it's antagonist which is the "konrabida". We Filipino has tendency to attached our self to the characters to the point that some of us hated or love the actors who playing the characters. Teleserye in the Philippines were produce, made and brainstorm by the 2 of biggest television network that is Channel 2 or the "KAPAMILYA" and the Channel 7 or  "KAPUSO".

Back in 2000 ABS-CBN or the kapamilya channel officially launched its teleserye through the very successful Pangako Syo who starred by Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales. The soap ran for 2 years which from 200 to 2002 that has 480 episodes. This soup opera popularize the characters like Amor Power who played by veteran actress Eula Valdez and Claudia Buenavista played by Jean Garcia. The teleserye even shown abroad to 14 countries and was even more successful in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Namibia and Singapore. 2010 Teledrama was born and was popularize by the kapuso channel.
Teleserye or Teledrama whatever you called it still offer it's wide Filipino audiences different kind of programming that we enjoyed. Teleserye was basically consist of the Storyline. This will give you information of what will be the themed of the series, whether it was about a poor girl who were being suffered a lot by its antagonist and eventually became rich and will give her revenge and get to those people who make her life miserable or it is about the lovers from a different kind of family with different status in life that were being separated by  the other rich family, in short the story line tells you where the series will revolve. We also have the so called Twist which make the series more exciting and unfortunately much longer, specially when the series was a total hit you can expect that the series will ran for a very long time. we also have the Villains of the series which add more spices and flavor to the series and lastly the Ending where each and every one us normally asked how will our favorite drama end.
Nowadays, at the advent of the Mexican telenovela like La tridora, Marimar, Maria La Del Bario, Rosalinda among others, and now the Korean novella like, the very successful and trend setter Meteor garden, coffee prince, full house, boys over flowers among others give most of the Filipino a different kind of programming that was dubbed to Filipino language so that majority of us can understand, this different kind of programming that is somehow still close to our heart because it still showcase the drama genre that most of us really love from time immemorial but with totally different actors who played the role and different themed which one way or the other we learned to love. I guess, what I have to say is that regardless of what countries, language, belief the drama genre is a very passionate and romantic language that we understand and loved. Happy watching everyone!

Decisions!!

A friend of mine posted a cute and very inspiring quote right on her facebook that goes something like this. "i used to worry too much about my job.but then i Stopped. cause i realized i am not paid enough to worry". I guess this friend of mine had enough with her work that I know she was very good at.  I understand her complaint as she did many work but still seems to be under paid and without any consolation and not to mention all the worries she get out of her job.
All kind of emotions we get for worrying for our respective jobs and never realizing that if its worth enough to really worry  wherein in one way or the other we were under paid, that after doing the impossible and gruesome job (pardon the exaggeration ) we are still unappreciated. Does life nowadays is that that hard? that regardless if you were enjoying your job or not you have no choice but to accept things the way they are?

That I guess is one of my dilemma, although it's my option to whether or not I want it to stop or continue but there were so many things to consider, unlike before when I was still in high college days that you decide base on your own and without considering other people but now is different.  In terms of quitting jobs or not my decision should be base on a bunch of "what's and what if's". Things like What if I cant find a much better and high paying job in comparison to the one I have.? What if it took me awhile before I was able to get a job despite all the applying walking and online that I have done? What if I am not happy to my current work provided I was able to find one? What happened to my family? How can I support them? this just a thousands of questions running in your mind that make it more harder. I guess it would be very easy to say I quit! but the execution of it and the circumstances of our action is the hardest part. But as they all says "lets cross the bridge when we get there!" and let us see what happened when we cross the bridge already, I guess our Almighty God will not gonna give us anything that we cannot handle and if reach the end the I guess that only thing that we should do is just pray in silence and asked for his helping hand to get though it all. I guess having all said and than the decision to do the first step is always the hardest but then if we are no longer happy and we are already pissed of and reach the point of saturation then it was worth whatever the decision that we will made is worth a try!
